Toy Review: Bauspiel Wooden Blocks

I first saw Bauspiel wooden blocks in a little local toy shop and instantly feel in love with the quality and look of these blocks. After doing the old google search to find more of them (the shop only sold individual window blocks), I found the Colour Street 45 piece set. After days of agonising over the cost (it was $370!), I decided the quality was worth it and bit the bullet and purchased. Here are my thoughts;

Positives:
* My son is obsessed! Every single day he plays with these blocks, building fences, castles, houses, towers and anything he can think of. We've had many wooden blocks over the years but nothing has captured his imagination quite like these blocks. He uses them along with our felt trees and Grimms wooden arches to build villages for his animals and gnomes. They are an excellent started for imaginative play.

*The quality is just outstanding, they will easily pass through generations of children and are very strong and sturdy. They fit perfectly in the wooden box they come in and are very easy to quickly pack up.
* They are simply stunning. The crystals have little mirrors behind them so the blocks literally shine (they are not transparent like the window blocks) and are just so inviting for children and adults alike. Kids just can't keep their hands off them!

Negatives;
* The price is the absolute only negative I have for these beautiful blocks. But considering the quality, I will definitely be investing in the other gorgeous block sets Bauspiel offer.

Thoughts;
These blocks are by far the most used toy in our house and I am thrilled with them. They have inspired my five year old more than other toy and i love that you can easily add to the experience with other wooden toys. I am saving up to buy the castle and acrylic block sets! We could only find two places in Australia that sell these blocks, Bellbirdkidz (www.bellbirdkidz.com.au) and Shopinside (www.shopinside.com.au) but please let us know if you know of any others!
